Welcome to Wagtails Canine Services – offering Dog Training and Behaviour Modification.

I live on an 8 acre small holding, just outside Beverley, East Yorkshire.  Facilities include large, securely enclosed garden, training paddock,  indoor training area, lake walk and 2 large grass fields.

My name is Ruth Bryant.  I started my career as a groom and horse riding instructor, after gaining my BHSAI.  I am a qualified Veterinary Nurse, having worked for over 10 years in the Veterinary Industry. My love of dogs led me to study for an HNC in Canine Training and Behaviour at Bishop Burton College.  Whilst working in Veterinary Practise I went on to further my studies, gaining my COAPE Diploma in Practical Animal Behaviour and Training(an internationally recognised and accredited behaviour qualification) to become a member of CAPBT.  I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog trainers (APDT) having successfully passed their assessment (APDT Number 01112).

As well as training my own dogs I have over 10 years experience taking puppy socialisation parties for a large local veterinary practice,  running dog training courses for pet dogs,  and also for Canine Partner puppies and their “puppy parents” preparing the dogs for further training as Assistance Dogs for disabled people.

Training involves plenty of fun for you and your dog – making sure that training is something your dog chooses to do with you – either in class or a private session.  Where a dog has a behaviour problem a meeting with you is arranged either here or in your own home.

I have been fortunate to have had animals all my life – Dogs, Cats, Horses, Goats, Poultry and Bees!  I currently have 2 cats: Pyjam and Slipper and 3 border collies: Morse, Bod and Flagg. I have competed at working trials, agility and flyball; at present my dogs are competing at rally obedience and the elder 2 are both now level 6 dogs. I competed at Crufts in 2018 for the northern rally obedience team with my younger dog Bod and won our level. Bod is now competing in working trials as well as rally obedience, Flagg is training twoards competing at working trials too.

My aim is to help you provide the best care you can for your dog – be it in providing excellent training or enhancing the bond between you and your dog.   Please do not hesitate to contact me if you feel Wagtails Canine Services could help you and your dog in any way.
